An acid attack in a car park that left a mother with disfiguring burns and a 60 percent permanent disability has resulted in two suspects being charged and referred to the High Criminal Court. The first hearing is scheduled for next Monday, according to the Chief Prosecutor of the Capital Governorate.
The shocking incident occurred in September when a man poured a corrosive substance on the victim as she stood with her children near a shopping mall. The assault left her with severe burns, requiring immediate medical attention.
Investigators quickly apprehended the first suspect, who admitted to attacking at the urging of a second man residing in Kuwait. The pair allegedly plotted the attack as an act of revenge. Bahraini authorities issued an international arrest warrant, and Kuwaiti officials detained the second suspect, who was subsequently extradited to Bahrain. Both men are now in custody.
Prosecutors pieced together the case with testimony from the victim, witnesses, and investigators, as well as security footage from the scene. Forensic experts examined samples from the victim’s clothing, while a medical report confirmed that her injuries were caused by chemical acid, leading to permanent physical harm.
