Asian man on trial for BD8.5 robbery

A 57-year-old Asian man faces charges of robbery after allegedly stealing BD8.5 and a wallet from another Asian man.

The incident, which led to the defendant’s arrest, involved a daring escape attempt.

According to the victim’s statement, the defendant approached him in his car, requesting change for a BD10 note.

The victim handed over BD8.5, but the defendant then grabbed the money and wallet , speeding away.

The victim attempted to stop the car by clinging to the door, but fell to the ground as the vehicle drove off.

Footage

Police responded to the victim’s report and reviewed security camera footage from a nearby residence.

The footage revealed the license plate of the defendant’s vehicle, which was subsequently identified as stolen.

Further investigation led police to identify the driver, whose photograph was then shown to the victim for identification.

Custody

The defendant was subsequently apprehended and taken into custody.

The public prosecution charged the defendant with robbery by force, alleging that he forcibly took the money and wallet and fled the scene.

The prosecution further stated that the defendant’s actions, including continuing to drive despite the victim clinging to the car, constituted force.
