The Kingdom of Bahrain is set to receive 12 luxury cruise ships this December as part of the Bahrain Festivities 2024 celebrations, announced Sarah Ahmed Buheji, Chief Executive Officer of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA). This move aligns with Bahrain’s ongoing efforts to boost maritime tourism and achieve the goals outlined in the National Tourism Strategy 2022–2026.
Buheji emphasized that welcoming such a diverse array of cruise ships highlights Bahrain's position as a leading regional tourist destination. Among the notable arrivals are the Greek vessel “Celestyle Journey”, making its debut in the Gulf, alongside the French cruise ship “Le Bougainville” and vessels from the German AIDA fleet and the Swiss-Italian MSC Cruises.
These visits underline the wide range of exceptional tourism options Bahrain offers to visitors.
Buheji added that these cruise ship visits provide tourists with a chance to enjoy the Bahrain Festivities 2024 activities, experience winter beach tourism, and explore Bahrain's vibrant markets, malls, heritage sites, and archaeological landmarks.

The Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority organizes guided tours to showcase the kingdom’s unique identity. These visits contribute to Bahrain’s economy by boosting various sectors such as retail, transportation, and services, enhancing the tourism sector’s contribution to the GDP.
Buheji commended the efforts of the Cruise Arabia Alliance, which includes Bahrain, Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Oman, for promoting the Gulf region as a unified and attractive destination for international tourists. This collaboration has successfully attracted leading global cruise operators to the region. The authority’s team continues to coordinate with these operators to attract even more cruise ships and tourists.
The 2024-2025 cruise season, which began in November and runs through April 2025, is set to host 40 cruise ship visits, with an estimated 100,000 tourists expected from around the globe, especially Europe.
The Bahrain Festivities 2024 season, ongoing throughout December, features a variety of entertainment events and activities in collaboration with the private sector, further cementing Bahrain’s reputation as a premier regional and international tourist destination.
