Around 100 Bahrainis stuck in Syria will soon return home after Bahrain’s diplomats secured safe passage for them via Jordan, according to MP Jalal Kadhem Al Mahfoodh. The operation comes through joint efforts between Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and its embassies in Damascus and Amman.

Arrangements have been made to ensure the Bahrainis’ safe journey back, with officials working closely to coordinate their return. Bahraini diplomats in Syria reached out to dozens of citizens and gathered them with their families in a secure area away from conflict zones, ready for transfer to Jordan.

‘This effort shows Bahrain’s determination to keep its people safe, even in the most challenging situations,’ said Al Mahfoodh. He praised Foreign Minister Dr Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani for personally stepping in and giving the matter his full attention, ensuring action was taken without delay.

Al Mahfoodh also expressed gratitude to Bahrain’s Ambassador to Syria, Waheed Mubarak Sayyar, and his team at the embassy, recognising their efforts in managing the delicate logistics involved.

He thanked all staff and officials at Bahrain’s embassies in Damascus and Amman, whose behind-the-scenes work helped ensure everything was set for a safe return. ‘Their quick thinking and practical approach made all the difference,’ he added.
