The Zakat and Charity Fund currently supports over 1,000 Bahraini families, with the potential for this number to grow depending on budget allocations.
The fund has outlined eligibility criteria for its “Ta’fuf Shares” (Shares of Temperance) project, which aims to provide stable income for families in need through community partnerships. To qualify, families must be registered with the Zakat and Charity Fund, the head of the household must be a Bahraini citizen, and the family must meet the fund’s zakat eligibility requirements.
Contributors support the project by purchasing shares, with options available at BD 200, BD 150, or BD 100. The total cost to sponsor a family for a year is BD 2,400, BD 1,800, or BD 1,200, respectively. An annual contract is signed between the fund and the contributor, which outlines the membership requirements and share distribution criteria. All contributors automatically become members of the project.
Diamond membership is awarded to those who contribute BD 24,000, BD 18,000, or BD 12,000 (sponsoring 10 families for a year). Gold membership applies to those who contribute BD 16,800, BD 12,600, or BD 8,400 (sponsoring 7 families). Silver membership is given to those who contribute BD 9,600, BD 7,200, or BD 4,800 (sponsoring 4 families), while Bronze membership is for those contributing BD 2,400, BD 1,800, or BD 1,200 (sponsoring 1 family).
