HM King, HRH Prince Salman welcome Duke of Edinburgh

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa received His Royal Highness Prince Edward, Duke of Edinburgh, at Al Sakhir Palace, where the two discussed the deep-rooted historic ties between Bahrain and the United Kingdom.

His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, also met with HRH The Duke of Edinburgh at Gudaibiya Palace.

HRH Prince Edward conveyed greetings from His Majesty King Charles III and extended his best wishes for Bahrain’s progress and prosperity, particularly during its National Day celebrations. HM King Hamad reciprocated with warm regards to HM King Charles III, highlighting the enduring bilateral relationship and expressing appreciation for efforts to strengthen partnerships between the two nations.

In recognition of HRH Prince Edward’s contributions to fostering cooperation, HM King Hamad awarded him the prestigious King Hamad Order of Renaissance, First Class.

The Duke expressed gratitude for the honour and commended HM the King’s leadership in advancing Bahraini-British relations.

HRH Prince Salman emphasised Bahrain’s commitment, under HM King Hamad’s leadership, to furthering cooperation and joint coordination with the UK. Discussions during the meeting included the longstanding ties between the two countries, aspirations for enhanced bilateral relations, and shared regional and international interests.

HRH Prince Salman hosted a lunch banquet in honor of The Duke and his delegation, attended by senior Bahraini officials, including HH Shaikh Ali bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, HH Shaikh Mohammed bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, and key government ministers.

These high-level engagements underscore Bahrain’s dedication to strengthening historic alliances and fostering diplomatic ties with the United Kingdom, reflecting mutual respect and shared aspirations for continued partnership and prosperity.
