His Excellency Eng. Ibrahim bin Hassan Al-Hawaj, Minister of Works, has announced the commencement of main construction works for the Northern Isa Town Intersection development. Located north of the Isa Town Gate intersection, this strategic project is expected to play a pivotal role in the Kingdom of Bahrain's growth and development.
The project is part of a broader initiative aimed at improving connectivity and mobility between key areas, including Riffa, A’ali, Sanad, Salmabad, Isa Town, and their surrounding regions. The development is set to enhance traffic flow, significantly reduce congestion, and upgrade Bahrain’s vital road infrastructure.
The centerpiece of the project involves Sheikh Salman Highway, a critical route connecting Manama to Riffa. Upon completion, the intersection's capacity will increase from 12,000 vehicles per day to 22,500 vehicles per day, substantially easing traffic pressure in the area.
Key components of the project include the construction of a three-lane overpass in each direction for uninterrupted traffic along Sheikh Salman Highway. Additionally, upgrades to the intersection with Oman Avenue and Salmabad Road will include ground-level traffic lights to facilitate smooth movement. Complementary works include the installation of a rainwater drainage system, road paving, sidewalk enhancements, landscaping, and traffic safety measures.
The project, awarded by the Tender Board to a consortium of Alghanim International and Almoayyed Contracting, carries a total cost of BHD 22.3 million.
Minister Al-Hawaj emphasized the project's role in supporting Bahrain’s infrastructure advancements and its alignment with the nation’s strategic development goals.
