A 23-year-old Asian man has been sentenced to one year in prison, suspended for three years, for assaulting a security guard at a shopping mall.
The High Criminal Court handed down the sentence, citing the victim’s withdrawal of his complaint and the defendant’s lack of prior convictions as mitigating factors.
The incident occurred when the security guard asked the defendant to move his motorcycle away from a gas storage area.
The defendant, angered by the request, responded by striking the guard three times on the left hand with his motorcycle helmet. The assault resulted in a fractured pinky finger and a 1% permanent disability, according to a forensic medical report.
