Bangladesh Embassy in Bahrain Hosts Awareness Program for International Migrants’ Day

The Embassy of Bangladesh in Bahrain celebrated International Migrants’ Day and National Expatriates’ Day with a special awareness-raising program held at its premises. The event, conducted in collaboration with Bahraini government entities and international organisations, underscored the Embassy’s commitment to safeguarding the rights, responsibilities, and welfare of the Bangladeshi community in Bahrain.
The program drew significant participation from foreign dignitaries, diplomats, and representatives of major entities, including the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the World Health Organization (WHO) Bahrain, and Bahrain's Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Notable attendees included H.E. Ms. Aishath Ihma Shareef, IOM Chief of Mission to Bahrain, and H.E. Ebrahim Mohammed Al Meselmani, Chief of Consular Services at Bahrain’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
In his opening address, Mr. A.K.M. Mohiuddin Kayes, Chargé d’Affaires, a.i., highlighted the importance of the day, reflecting on the Embassy’s ongoing efforts to support the Bangladeshi expatriate community. He commended the community for their contributions to both Bangladesh and Bahrain and emphasized the importance of respecting local laws to maintain a positive national image. Mr. Kayes also expressed gratitude to Bahraini authorities and international organisations for their collaboration in enhancing the well-being of Bangladeshi migrants.
H.E. Ms. Aishath Ihma Shareef lauded the Embassy for hosting such an impactful event, describing it as the first of its kind in Bahrain. She praised the Embassy’s close cooperation with IOM in implementing initiatives that benefit Bangladeshi migrants globally. Statements from representatives of WHO Bahrain, the Labour Market Regulatory Authority (LMRA), and the General Directorate of Traffic (GDT) echoed similar sentiments, stressing the importance of collaboration to protect and empower migrant communities.
The event also served as a platform for raising awareness about legal compliance, safety measures, and health services, encouraging the Bangladeshi community to actively contribute to Bahrain’s multicultural society.
The Embassy reaffirmed its commitment to supporting the Bangladeshi community through timely assistance, comprehensive consular services, and continued partnerships with Bahraini authorities and international agencies. As International Migrants’ Day concluded, the Embassy emphasized its dedication to fostering a secure and equitable environment for all Bangladeshi expatriates in Bahrain.
