The Bahraini Ambassador to Syria, Waheed Mubarak Sayyar, revealed that fewer than ten Bahraini citizens currently remain in the country. He confirmed that a second group of Bahrainis departed Syria on Tuesday, December 17th, via Beirut’s Rafic Hariri International Airport.

Others, he added, left by private vehicle, crossing the Nasib border crossing in southern Syria into Jordan, before continuing their journey home by land.

The ambassador emphasised that the Bahraini embassy in Damascus maintains constant contact with the remaining citizens, all fewer than ten in number. He assured that should they wish to return, the embassy will facilitate their repatriation, either by land through Jordan or via Damascus International Airport, where international air travel is expected to resume on Tuesday, December 24th.

Ambassador Sayyar previously stated that the embassy was working to repatriate Bahrainis in two phases, in response to the situation in Syria since early December. The first group returned via Jordan, followed by the second group via Leban.
