44th Session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs Kicks Off in Bahrain

The 44th Session of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs commenced in Bahrain with high-level participation from ministerial delegations representing various Arab nations. This significant event aims to address pressing social issues and enhance regional cooperation in the field of social development.
The summit’s agenda features several crucial topics, including the preparation of the social file for the upcoming Arab Summit. Discussions will also focus on the implementation of the social dimension of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) 2030, the rights of persons with disabilities, matters concerning the elderly, productive families, and issues related to family and childhood.
Moreover, the agenda highlights the importance of Arab participation in two significant international events: the upcoming Global Disability Summit and the 2nd World Summit for Social Development. These events call for collective Arab efforts to ensure active engagement and representation on a global stage.
Commitment to Social Development
Sahar Rashid Al Mannai, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Social Development in Bahrain, expressed the Kingdom’s commitment to social development during her opening remarks.
“Stemming from the vision of His Majesty the King and the directions of the government under the leadership of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, we in the Kingdom of Bahrain are keen and committed to persons with priority protection. We aim to bolster their chances for active participation in society, empower them economically, and help them achieve their ambitions,” Al Mannai stated.
She further emphasized Bahrain’s collaboration with the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs at the Arab League to organize this pivotal event.“We are so glad to host this event in Bahrain. We have discussed strategies and policies that will drive progress in social development,” she told the Daily Tribune.
Regional Cooperation and Shared Success
Dr. Tarek Nabulsi, Director of the Development and Social Policies Department at the Technical Secretariat of the Council of Arab Ministers of Social Affairs, lauded the collaborative efforts of Arab nations in advancing social development initiatives.
Saudi Arabia, represented by Dr. Tariq Alhamad, Deputy Minister for International Affairs, underscored the importance of knowledge exchange among Arab countries. “This is a great platform to share our success stories with other nations. Saudi Arabia wishes to share its experiences in alignment with Vision 2030. This summit marks a milestone for all Arab countries,” Dr. Alhamad told the Daily Tribune.
The outcomes of this session are expected to positively impact societies across the Arab world, fostering stronger regional ties and paving the way for inclusive and sustainable social development. The collective commitment of Arab nations to address shared challenges underscores the significance of this summit in driving progress and innovation in social policies across the region.
