Bahrain remains committed to investing in the oil and gas sector to drive innovation, sustainability, and competitiveness, the Cabinet, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, announced.

In this context, HRH also described the Bapco Modernization Project as a cornerstone in advancing Bahrain’s energy sector, calling it the largest strategic initiative in the Kingdom’s history. The project was officially inaugurated by His Majesty the King as part of Bahrain’s National Days celebrations, marking the 25th Anniversary of His Majesty’s Accession to the Throne, along with other accompanying national events.

The Cabinet commended the efforts of His Majesty’s Representative for Humanitarian Works and Youth Affairs, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Bapco Energies, His Highness Shaikh Nasser bin Hamad Al Khalifa, for his significant contributions to advancing the sector’s capabilities.

The Cabinet also expressed its gratitude to the national workforce for their dedication to the Bapco Modernization Project and other energy initiatives, highlighting the project’s role in strengthening the Kingdom’s economy.

The Cabinet then turned to the success of the 2024 World Weightlifting Championships, hosted in Bahrain, and reviewed the outcomes of the Kingdom's Labour Fund, Tamkeen, for 2024.

Tamkeen was celebrated for its remarkable achievement in supporting the employment and career development of 41,000 Bahrainis in the private sector. Additionally, the Cabinet noted that small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) made up 51% of beneficiaries under enterprise support programmes and 54% of those receiving financial assistance.

The Cabinet attributed these accomplishments to the unwavering efforts and support of His Highness Shaikh Isa bin Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Isa bin Salman Education Charitable Trust and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Tamkeen, as well as the Ministry of Labour. The Cabinet also emphasized the importance of initiatives such as the Skills Bahrain Initiative and the Employability Skills Portal, which reflect a unified vision for enhancing the Kingdom's labour market.
