The Lower Criminal Court has handed down sentences to three individuals following the viral spread of a video depicting public indecency.

The video, widely circulated on social media, showed a woman dancing on the roof of a moving vehicle while engaging in acts deemed offensive to public morals with another person.

The Court sentenced the two passengers, the first and second defendants, to two months imprisonment each. The driver, the third defendant, received a 100 Bahraini dinar fine. Bail of 100 Bahraini dinars was set for each of the passengers, suspending their prison sentences.

According to lawyer Iman Hassan, the Public Prosecution charged the driver with permitting the passengers to commit acts violating public morals on a public road.

The passengers were charged with a public act of indecency while the driver was operating his open-roof vehicle. The video clearly showed them standing and dancing on the vehicle's roof.

During the court proceedings, the second defendant confessed to the charges. However, the first and third defendants pleaded not guilty.

Lawyer Hassan argued on behalf of the driver, maintaining that her client was unaware of the passengers' actions and did not permit them. Nevertheless, the court found the driver culpable for failing to prevent the incident.
