Nine MPs, led by MP Jalal Kazim, have submitted a request for a public debate in the House of Representatives to clarify the government's policy on transactions related to minor children. The MPs involved are Jalal Kazim, Jaleela Al Sayed, Hanan Fardan, Basma Mubarak, Zainab Abdulameer, Maryam Al Sayegh, Dr Maryam Al Dhaen and Eman Shuwaiter.
The debate will address the procedures the government follows for issuing official documents such as passports, birth certificates, and identity cards when the father is absent or various legal disputes, including family or criminal cases, are pending in court.
It will also examine the rights of the mother or other relatives to obtain these documents. Furthermore, the MPs seek to understand the government's policy ensuring children receive all services offered by government agencies in situations where the father is absent or parental disputes exist. Finally, the debate will examine the mechanisms in place to protect the best interests of the child amidst parental conflicts.
MP Kazim will have priority speaking rights during the debate. The request highlights a growing concern among the MPs regarding the need for clearer guidelines and procedures to protect the rights and well-being of minor children in various legal and administrative contexts.
