The High Criminal Court is hearing a case against two Asian nationals accused of smuggling hashish through the mail. The case hinges on the testimony of two customs officers.
The first witness, a customs officer, testified that they became suspicious of a package addressed to the first defendant. Inside, they found five transparent nylon bags containing a greenish herbal substance, later identified as narcotics weighing a total of 704 grams.
The first defendant was apprehended upon attempting to claim the package. Testimony suggests the second defendant was involved in the importation of the prohibited narcotics.
A search warrant was subsequently issued for the defendants' residence, where over 1600 grams of narcotics were discovered. Investigations revealed that the defendants allegedly operated a smuggling ring, importing drugs via air freight and employing sophisticated concealment techniques within parcels to evade detection.
