An Asian woman was trafficked to Bahrain under false promises of employment and forced into prostitution.

The victim, seeking work to escape hardship in her home country, responded to a Facebook advertisement from an expatriate offering a job opportunity in Bahrain. After agreeing to a verbal contract for 1,800 dinars, she traveled to Bahrain, unaware of the situation she would face.

Upon arrival at Bahrain International Airport, the victim was met by a second accused individual and taken to an apartment, where she was coerced into prostitution. When she refused, the first accused sold her to a third trafficker, who continued to exploit her and pressured her to repay the fabricated debt of 1,800 dinars.

The Anti-Human Trafficking Directorate’s investigation revealed that the first and second accused facilitated the victim’s travel and forced her into exploitation.

The victim was trapped in a cycle of abuse and exploitation. The Public Prosecution has charged the three individuals with human trafficking, including transporting the victim under false pretences, coercing her into prostitution, and forcing her to pay a fabricated debt.

The accused admitted to their actions, including bringing the victim to Bahrain, exploiting her, and selling her to another trafficker. The First High Criminal Court has set 14 January for its ruling, with the accused remaining in custody.
