The Lower Criminal Court has sentenced the manager of a travel agency to three years imprisonment with immediate effect for defrauding 52 customers. The manager was found guilty of embezzling the funds paid for airline tickets that were never booked. The court, however, acquitted the former female owner of the agency and an employee of any wrongdoing.

According to the lawyer representing the former owner (the second defendant), Mohammed Madour, the Public Prosecution charged the agency manager (the first defendant), the former owner, and an employee (the third defendant) with embezzlement. The manager, who has a prior criminal record, accepted payments from 52 clients for tickets but failed to secure the bookings, and pocketed the money.

Upon arriving at Bahrain International Airport, the clients discovered their tickets were invalid. Investigations revealed that the manager had used a fraudulent method to deceive his victims.
