Syrian conjoined twins Celine and Eleen Abdulmoneim Alshibli arrived in Riyadh on Sunday, accompanied by their family, in preparation for a series of medical evaluations that may lead to a separation surgery.
The Saudi Press Agency (SPA) reported that the family was invited to the Kingdom under directives from King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The twins traveled from Lebanon aboard a medical evacuation aircraft provided by the Saudi Ministry of Defense.
Upon arrival, the twins were admitted to the King Abdullah Specialist Children’s Hospital in Riyadh, where a multidisciplinary medical team will conduct comprehensive evaluations to assess the possibility of separating the twins.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabeeah, supervisor-general of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center (KSrelief) and head of the surgical team, expressed gratitude to Saudi leadership for their humanitarian support. “This act underscores Saudi Arabia’s dedication to humanitarian values and its globally recognized medical expertise,” Al-Rabeeah stated.
The Saudi Conjoined Twins Program, established in 1990 and managed by Al-Rabeeah, has successfully separated dozens of conjoined twins from countries around the world. The program is known for its cutting-edge medical procedures and commitment to global humanitarian efforts.
