Plans to turn Bahrain’s Hawar Islands into a prime tourist destination, starting with the recently opened Hawar Resort – by Mantis, stood out in yesterday’s Cabinet meeting, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister, His Excellency Shaikh Khalid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa.
The Cabinet stressed the importance of these projects in boosting tourism and supporting Bahrain’s development ambitions under the leadership of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the guidance of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
The projects, overseen by the Higher Authority for Hawar Islands Development, led by His Highness Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Khalifa, aim to make the most of Bahrain’s distinctive marine environment and unique status as the Gulf’s only archipelagic state.
Attention also turned to the newly opened Electricity and Water Control Centre, which was recently launched by HRH Prince Salman. This facility is expected to improve infrastructure efficiency and capacity, laying the groundwork for further growth and economic progress.
Efforts
The Cabinet commended the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs and the Electricity and Water Authority (EWA) for their ongoing efforts in this essential area.
As 2025 approaches, the Cabinet took stock of Bahrain’s achievements in 2024, which marked the 25th year of His Majesty the King’s reign.
These achievements, spanning various sectors, were credited to the continued focus on development under the leadership of HRH the Crown Prince and Prime Minister.
Hope
The Cabinet expressed its hope that the coming year would bring prosperity to Bahrain and peace and stability across the globe.
The meeting also celebrated the success of the ‘Celebrate Bahrain’ festival, which featured a wide range of cultural, heritage, and artistic events that drew large crowds of both residents and visitors.
Particular praise was given to the ‘Muharraq Nights’ festival, organised by the Bahrain Authority for Culture and Antiquities (BACA), and the ‘Retro Manama’ events, overseen by the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority (BTEA).
