Tamkeen has revealed that its financing programme covers up to half the costs of installing solar panels for businesses in Bahrain, while it also looks at adding new ways to support renewable energy projects.
The announcement came after Shura Council member Talal Mohammed Al Mannai asked about the Labour Fund’s efforts to encourage investment in cleaner energy sources, particularly within the commercial sector.
In a letter to the Shura Council, Tamkeen Chief Executive Maha Mufeez explained how its range of programmes helps businesses across various stages.
Global standards She said the Fund aims to strengthen Bahrain’s energy sector by backing sustainable resources and ensuring local firms can meet global standards.
“Our focus is on helping businesses thrive by providing them with tools and support that match their needs. This includes helping them tackle energy challenges with practical solutions,” said Mufeez.
One of the main initiatives, the Financing Support Programme, works with local banks to offer funding options.

Businesses can receive up to 50 per cent of the costs for projects such as buying and installing solar panels.
The programme also offers guarantees to make borrowing easier, allowing firms to grow and expand.
