Bahrain Participates in Key Arab-Western Ministerial Meeting on Syrian Stability

His Excellency Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani, Bahrain's Minister of Foreign Affairs, participated in the Arab-Western Joint Ministerial Meeting held today in Riyadh, at the invitation of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The meeting, chaired by His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Farhan, Saudi Minister of Foreign Affairs, was convened to discuss developments in the Syrian Arab Republic.

The meeting saw the participation of foreign ministers from across the Arab world, including the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan, the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, which currently holds the presidency of the Arab League, Oman, Qatar, Kuwait, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Republic of Iraq, the Syrian Arab Republic, and the Lebanese Republic. The Secretary-General of the Arab League and the Secretary-General of the Gulf Cooperation Council were also present.

From the Western side, foreign ministers from the United Kingdom, Turkey, Germany, and the United States, as well as Spain's Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Italy's Deputy Foreign Minister, the French President's advisor, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, and the United Nations Special Envoy for Syria attended.

The meeting focused on the situation in Syria and its impact on regional security and stability. Key discussions included the necessary support to preserve Syria’s sovereignty, independence, and territorial integrity, as well as advancing economic growth, development, and the return of refugees. The meeting also addressed the aspirations of the Syrian people for peace, prosperity, and progress.

The Kingdom of Bahrain's delegation to the meeting included Sheikh Ali bin Abdulrahman bin Ali Al Khalifa, Bahrain’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ambassador Ahmed Mohamed Al-Tarifi, Head of the Arab and African Affairs Sector, and the accompanying delegation of the Minister of Foreign Affairs.
