The Ministry of Health has intensified its efforts to curb the spread of insects and mosquitoes during the current season, announced Raja Al Saloom, Chief of Environmental Health at the Public Health Directorate. The pre-emptive campaigns, conducted in coordination with the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, aim to eliminate mosquito breeding sites across Bahrain’s governorates, safeguarding public health.
Al Saloom explained that while mosquitoes are present year-round, their population surges during this season due to favorable conditions such as moderate temperatures, humidity, and stagnant water following rainfall. The intensified campaigns involve field operations targeting high-risk areas and addressing public complaints.
Highlighting the importance of community collaboration, Al Saloom urged citizens and residents to adopt preventative measures at home, such as regularly disposing of stagnant water in containers, home fountains, car tires, and improperly sealed drains. Proper waste disposal in designated areas is also crucial to controlling mosquito and insect populations.
The Ministry emphasized that raising community awareness and promoting preventive practices are vital to the success of these campaigns in ensuring a safe and healthy environment for all.
