HM King concludes historic Oman visit, new agreements signed to forge stronger bilateral ties

His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa concluded a state visit to the Sultanate of Oman yesterday in a historic step to strengthen bilateral relations.

The visit from 14 to 15 January, and hosted by His Majesty Sultan Haitham bin Tarik, underscored the enduring fraternal ties between the two nations and set the stage for enhanced cooperation across various sectors.

During the visit, extensive talks were held between the two leaders, focusing on bilateral relations and regional cooperation.

Joint statement

A joint statement was issued following HM the King’s state visit with both leaders lauding the progress in joint efforts and the flourishing partnership between Oman and Bahrain.

They emphasised the importance of diversifying economic collaboration and expanding the scope of investment opportunities.

A key highlight was the establishment of the Omani-Bahraini Investment Company, which the leaders warmly welcomed, expressing their hopes for its success.

Several agreements, memoranda of understanding, and executive programs were signed during the visit, spanning various fields aimed at boosting the partnership between the two nations.

The leaders also praised the contributions of the Omani-Bahraini Joint Committee in advancing mutual interests, highlighting its active role in implementing joint projects and exploring new areas of cooperation.

The discussions extended beyond bilateral issues to address regional and international matters.

Both monarchs reaffirmed their commitment to the principles of dialogue and peaceful dispute resolution, advocating for enhanced international cooperation to ensure regional and global security and stability.

They also called for greater consultation and coordination on issues of mutual concern, reinforcing the pillars of stability and prosperity for the region and the world.

The leaders reviewed the progress of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), emphasising the importance of collective achievements in advancing the Gulf’s shared vision.

At the conclusion of the visit, HM King Hamad expressed his deep gratitude for the warm hospitality extended by Sultan Haitham and the people of Oman.

In return, HM Sultan Haitham conveyed his best wishes for Bahrain’s continued progress and prosperity, reflecting the deep-rooted and enduring bond between the two nations.

The visit marked another milestone in the historic relationship between Oman and Bahrain, reaffirming their shared commitment to mutual growth and regional stability.
