The Lower Civil Court has ordered a company to pay BD4,000 to an individual after it failed to honour a repayment agreement and did not dispute the evidence against it.
The company was also directed to cover legal costs and attorney fees.
The claimant presented a signed debt acknowledgment from the company, stating that BD4,000 would be repaid in monthly instalments of BD300. Despite multiple requests, the company failed to make any payments.
The company, though represented in court, did not deny the validity of the debt acknowledgment or challenge the claimant’s evidence.
The claimant’s lawyer, Latifa Al Saadoun, noted that the defendant made no attempt to question the debt or raise any legal objections.
After reviewing the case, the court determined that the company had not fulfilled its repayment promise and provided no legitimate defence. The company later appealed the ruling, but the Court of Appeal upheld the original decision.
The appellate court dismissed the appeal, stating that the company had failed to provide new evidence or arguments, and its lack of engagement only strengthened the case against it.
