Mahendra Bhatia, Honorary Secretary of the Thattai Hindu Community and Shrinathji (Shri Krishna) Temple, reflected on India’s rich cultural heritage and its journey of development as the nation marked its 76th Republic Day. Speaking passionately, Mr. Bhatia praised the theme "Swarnim Bharat: Virasat aur Vikas" (Golden India: Heritage and Development) for perfectly capturing the essence of India’s identity on the global stage.

India’s cultural legacy, spanning from the Indus Valley Civilisation to modern times, has been a source of global admiration. Contributions to philosophy, science, mathematics, and literature, along with its diverse traditions, languages, and art forms, underline the enduring influence of Indian heritage.

"Indian culture, cuisine, yoga, and spirituality have gained immense popularity globally, fostering cultural exchange and enhancing India’s image as a tolerant, pluralistic, and creative nation," Mr. Bhatia noted, highlighting the growing role of cultural diplomacy.

Modern Identity

Mr. Bhatia underscored India’s emergence as a global leader and role model for developing nations. Its rapid economic growth, democratic values, and emphasis on inclusive development were credited with shaping its global identity. He praised India’s commitment to multilateralism and its ability to resonate with global audiences through its vision of unity and progress.

"Our prime minister, Shri Narendra Modi, has done an impeccable job of showcasing India to the world," he remarked, calling on the Indian diaspora to elevate India’s global standing further.

Diaspora Role

Addressing Indians in Bahrain, Mr. Bhatia urged them to act as ambassadors of India’s heritage, bringing pride to their homeland through excellence in their professions and community-building efforts. "Every Indian should excel in their chosen field and bring laurels to India," he said, encouraging continued engagement in education, cultural events, and international collaboration.

Mr. Bhatia also invoked the spirit of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam - the world is one family - encouraging the diaspora to embody this ethos in their interactions globally.

Global Vision

As India celebrates its past and embraces its future, Mr. Bhatia’s message resonated with pride and aspiration. By preserving its heritage while embracing modernity, India continues to project itself as a vibrant, dynamic, and influential nation, inspiring not only its people but also the world, including its close community in Bahrain.

"Jai Hind," Mr. Bhatia concluded, capturing the spirit of unity and optimism that marks this Republic Day celebration.
