Gulf Air Group and Ministry of Electricity Join Forces on Energy Efficiency

A significant step towards sustainability was marked today as H.E. Yasser bin Ibrahim Humaidan, Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs, and Khalid Hussain Taqi, Chairman of the Board of Gulf Air Group, signed a framework agreement focusing on renewable energy and energy efficiency. The signing ceremony was attended by Jeffrey Goh, CEO of Gulf Air Group, and Mohamed Yousif Al Binfalah, CEO of Bahrain Airport Company.
In his remarks, H.E. the Minister of Electricity and Water Affairs highlighted that the framework reflects the Ministry's commitment to implementing Bahrain's National Energy Efficiency Plan and National Renewable Energy Plan. He praised Gulf Air Group's efforts in adopting sustainable energy solutions and capacity-building initiatives that contribute to energy efficiency. H.E. also emphasized the importance of this collaboration in ensuring sustainable energy resources in line with the government’s vision for environmental sustainability.
The Minister underlined the role of the private sector in achieving renewable energy goals and leveraging the opportunities presented by the national plan. He commended Gulf Air Group for its contributions to optimizing energy use and its dedication to utilizing technological advancements to meet its ambitions in this sector.
Khalid Hussain Taqi, Chairman of Gulf Air Group, noted that this strategic partnership aligns with the group’s continuous efforts to support Bahrain’s transition towards a sustainable, low-carbon economy. He reiterated the group’s commitment to advancing the objectives of Bahrain's National Renewable Energy Plan and the National Energy Efficiency Plan.
Taqi further emphasized Gulf Air Group’s dedication to enhancing the use of renewable energy sources and supporting initiatives aimed at sustainable development. He noted that these efforts align with Bahrain's national goals to reduce carbon emissions by 30% by 2035 and achieve net-zero emissions by 2060, paving the way for a greener and more sustainable future for the Kingdom.
The framework agreement aims to provide technical support and consultancy from the Ministry of Electricity and Water Affairs to Gulf Air Group Holding. This collaboration will focus on integrating renewable energy solutions and improving energy efficiency across the group’s facilities and buildings.
This partnership underscores Bahrain’s proactive approach to addressing environmental challenges and fostering a sustainable energy landscape.
