The Ministry of Works has officially inaugurated a series of roads leading to the Sitra housing project, marking a significant milestone in Bahrain’s infrastructure development. This initiative aims to enhance connectivity, support urban expansion, and provide integrated services for residents of new housing cities.
The inauguration ceremony included site inspections by prominent officials, including Ibrahim bin Hassan Al Hawaj, Minister of Works; Amna bint Ahmed Al Rumaihi, Minister of Housing and Urban Planning; and other senior government representatives and parliamentary members.
Minister Al Hawaj emphasized that the project, which forms a critical component of Bahrain’s strategic road network, addresses the Kingdom’s rapid urban and economic growth. Highlights of the development include a four-lane road west of the housing city, two marine crossings for northern and southern access, and upgrades to existing roads, ensuring sustainability and smooth traffic flow.
The Sitra housing project, covering 243 hectares, will eventually offer over 3,000 modern housing units, complemented by essential community facilities. Completed infrastructure works include sewage systems, rainwater drainage, water pipelines, street lighting, and telecommunications networks.
This collaborative effort underscores Bahrain’s commitment to fostering sustainable urban growth and enhancing quality of life for its citizens.
