Parliament has approved a proposal to preserve the Gulf’s cultural identity, with a strong focus on encouraging traditional Gulf attire in workplaces, official events, and beyond. The plan also promotes integrating Gulf heritage into school lessons and media programs, ensuring younger generations stay connected to their roots.

Proposed by MPs Khalid Buanaq, Ahmed Al Salloom, Basma Mubarak, Hanan Fardan, and Mohammed Al Ma’arafi, the initiative seeks to build pride in local traditions while fostering shared values across Gulf communities. Its framework suggests practical steps, starting with embedding heritage into education and media.

The supporting documents emphasise the importance of creating home-grown films and TV shows that reflect Gulf life, alongside cultural events celebrating the region’s rich traditions. The goal is to pass on a strong sense of identity and belonging to the next generation while keeping Gulf culture alive and thriving.
