Health Ministry Announces Mandatory Vaccination Guidelines for Hajj and Umrah Pilgrims
In line with health guidelines issued by the authorities in Saudi Arabia for the 1446 AH (2025) Hajj and Umrah season, Bahrain’s Ministry of Health has announced that all pilgrims, including adults and children aged one year or older, must receive the mandatory meningococcal meningitis vaccine. The vaccine is available at primary healthcare centers, and travelers must obtain an official vaccination certificate from an accredited health authority at least 10 days prior to departure.
The Ministry emphasized that this requirement is not new but remains a mandatory measure for Hajj.
Travelers are advised to visit their local health centers during official working hours (7:00 AM to 6:00 PM) to receive the vaccine at least 10 days before their scheduled travel date. The vaccination certificate will be valid for five years for vaccines administered at Bahrain’s healthcare centers.
The Ministry also urged pilgrims to adhere to all health measures and ensure they complete the mandatory and recommended vaccinations. These requirements aim to protect pilgrims from preventable infectious diseases and align with updated health risk assessments and the global epidemiological situation.
