15-yr jail for three in explosion bid
Three defendants accused of attempting to detonate an explosive were sentenced to 15 years behind bars each. The trio reportedly made two unsuccessful attempts to trigger the same bomb, which they placed near a park in Duraz before planting it near an area where security forces used to station. Initially, the bomb failed to go off, but in the second time officers didn’t station in the area, according to court files.
The first defendant made the bomb and planted it. His co-defendants’ role was to survey the area. The bomb was initially planted during a riot, and was aimed to blow up when police officers arrive in the area.
The first defendant was arrested after his identity was detected via police investigation. He is said to have been also implicated in other terrorist activities.
