National Day Urdu Mushaira set to enthral poetry lovers

In connection with the National Day Urdu Mushaira, Pakistan Urdu Society Bahrain will organise a special Urdu poetry session on December 18 at Global Institute. 

Many prominent poets from Pakistan, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain will recite their verses before the large crowd of poetry lovers. Mushaira will begin at 8pm. Head of Chancery Pakistan Embassy Muhammad Ahad will be the chief guest.

Shakil Ahmed will preside over the Mushaira. Some of the participating poets are Muhammad Farooq Lodhi, Qudsia Nadeem Lali, Suhail Saqib, Dr Sajjad Syed, Iqbal Qamar, Sheraz Mahdi, Saeed Ashar, Iqbal Tariq, Riaz Shahid, Ahmed Adil, Murad Sahil, Ahmed Amir Pasha and Khursheed Aleeg.

Speaking to DT News, Ahad said Pakistan Embassy was quite happy to patronise such a big literary event. Extending the embassy’s full cooperation for such events, he said that they were very keen to promote the literary and cultural activities among Pakistani community in the Kingdom.

On behalf of the Ambassador of Pakistan, Ahad also congratulated His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, Prime Minister HRH Prince Khalifa bin Salman Al Khalifa and Crown Prince, Deputy Supreme Commander and First Deputy Premier HRH Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa on the occasion of the National Day of Bahrain.  Chief organiser of the event and Chief Coordinator of Pakistan Urdu Society Malik Zafar Awan thanked the Pakistan Embassy for patronising Mushaira. 

“It would be a great occasion for Urdu poetry lovers all across Bahrain and Saudi Arabia to participate in the event and enjoy listening to the prominent and popular Urdu poets.”

He said that Pakistan Urdu Society was fully dedicated for the development of Urdu language in Bahrain and other Middle Eastern countries. 

Zafar said the Urdu knowing people outside Pakistan had always been anxiously waiting for such programmes and this time also a large crowd of the Urdu speakers was expected to attend the Mushaira.
