Under Royal Patronage, Bahrain Brings the World Together for a Greener Future
Bahrain’s biggest agricultural event is making a grand return. From February 20-23, the Bahrain International Garden Show (BIGS) 2025 will take over Exhibition World Bahrain in Sakhir, bringing together farmers, entrepreneurs, industry experts, and sustainability advocates from around the world.
Held under the patronage of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and with the support of Her Royal Highness Princess Sabeeka bint Ibrahim Al Khalifa, the event is all about innovation, sustainability, and taking Bahrain’s agricultural sector to the next level.
“This isn’t just an exhibition—it’s a movement,” said Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, NIAD Secretary-General, during a press conference at Isa Cultural Hall yesterday. “BIGS has become a place where experts, farmers, and businesses come together to push boundaries and shape the future of agriculture.”
Bahraini Farmers in the Spotlight
One of the biggest highlights this year is the National Pavilion, where 16 Bahraini farmers will get the chance to showcase their work. The farmers were chosen through a fair draw system, ensuring equal opportunities for all.
“This pavilion is about celebrating local talent,” Shaikha Maram explained. “It’s giving our farmers a real shot at expanding their reach, securing new deals, and showing the world what Bahrain’s agricultural sector is capable of.”
Beyond just displaying crops and techniques, the pavilion will also create opportunities for trade partnerships, market expansion, and even agricultural tourism.
Going Global: 120 Exhibitors, 19 Countries
With over 120 exhibitors from 19 countries, BIGS 2025 is going to be more international than ever. Expect to see participation from across the GCC (Saudi Arabia, UAE, Oman), as well as agricultural powerhouses like Jordan, Syria, Morocco, and Tunisia. Asian nations—including China, Japan, Malaysia, Thailand, and Sri Lanka—are also on board, along with representatives from as far as Russia, New Zealand, Brazil, and Argentina.
“The fact that we have this level of international participation just shows how much Bahrain is growing as a leader in sustainable agriculture,” Shaikha Maram noted.
Empowering Entrepreneurs: The Future of Bahraini Agribusiness
BIGS 2025 is also a game-changer for Bahraini startups and entrepreneurs. In collaboration with Export Bahrain and Tamkeen, the event will feature a dedicated entrepreneurship pavilion, giving Bahraini innovators the chance to showcase their agricultural tech, organic products, and sustainability solutions to a global audience.
“We want to make sure that Bahraini businesses—especially startups—get the exposure and connections they need to compete on a global scale,” said Shaikha Maram.
Hands-On Experiences for Everyone
BIGS 2025 isn’t just for industry professionals—it’s an event for everyone. This year’s show will feature:
- Interactive workshops on modern farming, sustainability, and green energy solutions
- A dedicated children’s pavilion with fun and educational activities about agriculture
- Live demonstrations of cutting-edge agricultural technologies
“This event is as much about education and awareness as it is about business,” Shaikha Maram added.
60 Years Later
This year’s event comes with a major milestone—the 60th anniversary of the Bahrain Garden Club (BGC).
To mark the occasion, the club will be hosting its prestigious annual competitions, including:
- HM King’s Cup for Home Gardens
- HRH Princess Sabeeka’s Photography Contest
- HH Shaikh Abdullah bin Hamad Eco-Gardening Award
A special BGC Pavilion will take visitors on a journey through the club’s history, achievements, and its role in shaping Bahrain’s gardening culture.
A Warm Welcome
As Bahrain gears up for its biggest and most exciting edition of BIGS yet, Shaikha Maram extended an open invitation:
“Whether you’re a farmer, a business owner, a sustainability enthusiast, or just someone who loves plants and nature—this is an event you don’t want to miss.”
Mark your calendars and get ready to explore the future of agriculture in Bahrain.
