Bahrain's Sama Bay Project to Elevate Marine Tourism with Exciting Lineup of Events

Bahrain is set to host a series of events and entertainment programs, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing marine tourism. The highly anticipated "Sama Bay" Project, a distinctive seafront destination, is poised to offer an integrated tourism experience with a diverse range of marine, sports, and recreational activities suitable for visitors of all ages.

Her Excellency Mrs. Fatima bint Jaffar Al-Sairafi, Minister of Tourism, highlighted that the Sama Bay Project aligns with Bahrain’s tourism strategy (2022-2026), which emphasizes marine tourism as a key sector for development. She stated that the new seafront in the Muharraq Governorate represents a qualitative addition to Bahrain’s tourism landscape, reinforcing the Kingdom’s rich maritime heritage and picturesque coastal beauty.

“The Sama Bay Project will serve as a distinctive destination, catering to individuals and families alike while enhancing the tourism status of Muharraq. The Governorate boasts a well-developed tourism infrastructure and is home to major projects such as Marassi Al Bahrain and the Sa’ada Project, further strengthening the tourism sector and attracting investments,” Al-Sairafi remarked.

She further underscored Bahrain’s unique advantage as the only archipelagic state in the region, allowing it to develop and diversify marine tourism. The Kingdom’s coasts play a pivotal role in attracting visitors globally, while simultaneously contributing to Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 by promoting economic sustainability and tourism expansion.

Ms. Sarah Ahmed Buhiji, CEO of the Bahrain Tourism and Exhibitions Authority, described Sama Bay as a modern strategic project designed to promote family tourism. She emphasized that the development offers a variety of outdoor sports and recreational activities, making it an ideal destination for both locals and international visitors.

“The project will feature a diverse range of services, including restaurants and entertainment facilities. Additionally, there remains significant potential for attracting innovative projects that will enhance the overall visitor experience and further develop Bahrain’s tourism sector,” Buhiji stated.

She also confirmed that a series of exciting events, activities, and entertainment programs are planned for the coming weeks. These will include art workshops, musical performances, cultural festivals, and dedicated children’s activities, all of which will enhance Sama Bay’s appeal as an integrated entertainment hub.

Spanning 2 kilometers with a total area of 100,000 square meters, the Sama Bay Project can accommodate over 3,000 visitors per day. It is divided into two main sections: the first extends 1.5 kilometers and features 39 commercial units, including shops, kiosks, a sports center, a water sports center, and an area designated for 14 food trucks, along with a jogging and aerobics walkway. The second section, covering 0.5 kilometers, houses 12 buildings designed for waterfront restaurants, offering a premium dining experience for marine enthusiasts.

The launch of the Sama Bay Project marks a significant step in the development of Bahrain’s tourism infrastructure. As part of the Kingdom’s Economic Vision 2030, the initiative aims to boost economic diversity and create sustainable growth within the tourism sector. With its comprehensive amenities and vibrant atmosphere, Sama Bay is set to position Bahrain as one of the region’s premier tourist destinations.
