Tourism progress in Arab world discussed in UAE meet

Bahraini delegates attended a high-level meeting organised by Sharjah Commerce and Tourism Development Authority in association with UAE National Council of Tourism and Antiquities to discuss tourism in the Arab world, in Sharjah, UAE yesterday. 

Participants from United Arab Emirates, Jordan, Yemen, Mauritania, Lebanon, Qatar, Sudan, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, and Morocco attended the meeting. 

Representatives from the General Secretariat of the League of Arab States, the Arab Organisation for Tourism, Arab Academy for Science and Technology and Maritime Transport, the World Tourism Organisation, the Arab Interior Ministers Council, Transport and Tourism Management and the Arab Union of Land Transport were also present in the meeting.

The meeting discussed the developments in the tourism sector in the Arab countries and shed light on the challenges and possible solutions for the growth of the sector. It also hosted special sessions for delegations and organised a tourist quality award event to recognise entities offering outstanding services.

Speaking on the occasion, Chairman of SCTDA Khalid Jasim Al Midfa, said the guidance and support of ruler of Sharjah Shaikh Dr. Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi had been the biggest motivating factor for Sharjah’s tourism sector in its growth path.
