Arad Building Collapse: Gas Explosion Causes Fatalities and Injuries, Investigation Underway

A gas cylinder explosion led to the collapse of a two-story building in Arad, causing one death and leaving several injured. The building, which housed a restaurant and a commercial store, was significantly damaged in the explosion.

At 7:40 PM, the main operations room received an emergency call reporting the explosion, which resulted in the building's collapse. Major General Dr. Shaikh Hamad bin Mohammed Al Khalifa, Deputy Chief of Public Security, addressed the media, saying, “We hope that no more injuries or fatalities occur. Our staff are still searching under the debris.”

According to the latest updates, one person has died, six others were injured, and all the injured are currently receiving treatment at King Hamad Hospital. Two individuals were rescued from under the rubble, and emergency teams are continuing their search for additional survivors.

In response to the tragedy, authorities have summoned the building's owner and launched an investigation to determine the circumstances and causes of the explosion. Legal proceedings will be carried out to ensure that similar incidents do not happen in the future.

Eyewitness

Witnesses described the chaos and devastation following the explosion. One eyewitness shared, “We were sitting at home when we suddenly heard a loud explosion. We rushed outside to understand what had happened. It was shocking to see a building completely collapsed.”

Another bystander recounted the frantic moments after the explosion: “We reached the main road, trying to find the source of the sound. When we arrived, we saw the collapsed building and injured people. We couldn’t do anything but wait for Civil Defense personnel to arrive.”

A local resident also shared their experience: “I was at home when I heard a sound that I cannot describe. It was terrifying.”

The Civil Defense deployed 38 personnel and seven fire engines to the scene to manage the rescue efforts and ensure public safety. Authorities have urged the public to stay clear of the affected area as the rescue operation continues.
