A formal request has been submitted to Council of Representatives Speaker Ahmed bin Salman Al Musallam, focusing on the government’s handling of transit and tourism services.

The discussion will examine whether Bahrain International Airport is equipped to handle an increased number of transit passengers and what steps the Ministry of Tourism is taking to draw in more visitors.

MPs will also explore ways to simplify the visa process for short-stay travelers, particularly through online systems.

A significant part of the discussion will involve comparing Bahrain’s tourism incentives with those of neighboring countries to assess its competitiveness in attracting travelers.

Additionally, the economic impact of expanding transit and tourism services will be on the agenda, particularly in terms of potential revenue growth.

MPs are expected to propose ideas to strengthen Bahrain’s position in regional tourism and transit, making better use of its geographic advantages.

The role of Gulf Air will be scrutinised, with MPs seeking to determine whether Bahrain’s flag carrier is effectively facilitating smoother travel experiences, from entry procedures to onward flights.

MP Al Saleh is anticipated to lead the MPs’ case during the MP Mamdooh Al Saleh discussion.
