The Bahrain Center for Strategic, International, and Energy Studies (Derasat) reinforced its commitment to energy innovation by hosting two key events in collaboration with the U.S. Embassy in Bahrain. These initiatives aimed to explore advancements in smart grid technology, artificial intelligence, and energy efficiency.

As part of its "Think Talks" series, Derasat held a seminar on February 17, 2025, titled “Smart Grid, Energy Transition, and What’s Next?” at its headquarters in Awali. The event featured Prof. G. Kumar Venayagamoorthy, Duke Energy Distinguished Professor at Clemson University, and was moderated by Eng. Sabeka Khalid Ismaeel, Analyst at Derasat’s Studies and Research Directorate. Experts and stakeholders gathered to discuss the future of energy systems, sharing insights on enhancing sustainability in the region.

Building on these discussions, Derasat organized a two-day workshop on February 18–19, 2025, titled “Smart Grid, AI Applications, and Real-Time Implementations.” Led by Prof. Venayagamoorthy, the sessions explored how artificial intelligence can optimize smart grid systems. Participants from the energy, technology, and academic sectors engaged in hands-on exercises and discussions about real-time AI applications for improving energy efficiency.

By facilitating these events, Derasat continues to play a pivotal role in knowledge sharing, innovation, and collaboration. The Center remains dedicated to addressing emerging challenges in the energy sector while supporting Bahrain’s vision for sustainable development and technological advancement.
