Bahrain is set to boost tourism and trade with Egypt by increasing flights between the two nations as part of a broader strategy to deepen economic ties.
Minister of Finance and National Economy, H.E. Shaikh Salman bin Khalifa Al Khalifa, highlighted this initiative during a press conference in Manama yesterday.
The announcement follows discussions at the second meeting of the Bahraini-Egyptian Governmental Committee for Trade, Economic, Scientific, and Technological Cooperation, where officials reviewed ways to enhance bilateral relations.
Economic Goals
H.E. Shaikh Salman outlined Bahrain’s target of raising trade volume with Egypt beyond $1 billion, focusing on key sectors such as industry, digital services, and tourism.
Plans are also underway to strengthen collaboration in financial technology and student exchange programmes, reinforcing the strategic partnership between both countries.
A business forum in Cairo is also in the pipeline, providing a platform for investors and stakeholders to explore opportunities for trade and investment.
The initiative aims to drive sustainable economic growth, leveraging the long-standing relationship between Bahrain and Egypt.
Meanwhile, Shaikh Khalid bin Ali bin Abdulla Al Khalifa, Deputy Chairman of the Supreme Judicial Council and President of the Court of Cassation, concluded an official visit to Egypt alongside Attorney General Dr. Ali bin Fadhel Al Buainain.
The delegation engaged in high-level talks with Egyptian judicial leaders, including Supreme Judicial Council President Hosni Abdel Latif, Justice Minister Adnan Fangary, and Attorney General Mohamed Shoukry.
The discussions focused on reinforcing judicial cooperation, implementing international agreements, and integrating technology into the legal system.
A twinning declaration was signed between the Bahraini and Egyptian Courts of Cassation to facilitate judicial knowledge exchange, while an MoU was inked to advance legal training, expertise sharing, and professional development for prosecutors.
Strategic Initiatives
As part of their visit, Bahraini officials toured the Criminal Research and Training Institute at Egypt’s Public Prosecution, gaining insights into its academic and training programmes.
They also attended the launch of Egypt’s Public Prosecution Training Strategy, a technology-driven initiative designed to develop legal professionals.
The engagements underscore Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening ties with Egypt across multiple sectors, solidifying their partnership in economic and judicial cooperation for long-term mutual benefit.
