A total of 174 appeals have been lodged by individuals found to have breached the Khatwa home business programme, with 54 cases accepted after review.

The Social Insurance Organisation (SIO) has confirmed that pensions will be back-paid for those whose cases met the required conditions, while the process to resolve the remaining applications is ongoing.

The SIO is still accepting appeals and has urged those affected—who had added past service periods outside the rules—to submit their cases.

Evidence of past business activity can include dated photographs of products, records of participation in fairs or events, social media posts, bank statements linked to the business, or any other proof that clearly shows the work took place during the period in question.

Online Portal
Appeals can be lodged through the online portal: https://www.sio.gov.bh/Khatwa/.

After pension payments were stopped for those in breach, the Ministry of Labour placed 227 individuals on the unemployment benefits programme. Payments will be issued to those who have met the required conditions, while other cases are still being assessed. The ministry is also working to connect job seekers with available positions.

Support Schemes
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Social Development has been directing those who qualify toward support schemes. It has urged applicants to keep their details up to date and meet the conditions of the programme to avoid delays in processing.

The SIO reminded those affected to respond to official requests and complete any remaining paperwork.
