The Southern Governorate Municipality, in collaboration with the Scout Education Department of the Ministry of Education's Sports Education Administration, organized a cleanup campaign at the A'ali Corniche, as part of its initiative titled “Our Coasts are Our Responsibility.” The campaign saw the participation of 30 students from the scouts and specialists from the municipality.
This civic initiative aims to protect the coasts and marine environment from pollution and waste, enhancing community partnership with official institutions and civil society organizations. The municipality provided several necessary supplies for the campaign, along with sanitation workers to assist in the cleanup efforts.
The Southern Governorate Municipality seeks to raise community awareness and promote correct behaviors related to the importance of public cleanliness, including proper waste disposal in designated bins. This initiative aligns with the Public Cleanliness Law No. (10) of 2019.
At the beginning of each year, the municipality develops an awareness plan that covers parks, walkways, and coastlines. This plan involves the participation of various institutions, volunteer and environmental organizations, youth groups, and relevant governmental agencies. The municipality emphasizes that these facilities are public property, and it is the responsibility of all citizens and residents to cooperate with the municipality in maintaining them for the benefit of current and future generations.
