The General Directorate of Traffic has confiscated 170 unlicensed scooters and similar vehicles following the recent ban on their use in key areas. The crackdown comes after an announcement on February 9, prohibiting scooters from main public roads, vehicle lanes, road shoulders, emergency lanes, and designated stopping areas.
Authorities warned that violators would face legal consequences, and their vehicles would be seized. The directorate emphasized that these measures are part of ongoing efforts to enhance traffic safety and protect road users. Officials cited the irregular use of such transportation as a major concern, as it poses risks of fatal accidents and endangers both lives and property.
Field campaigns will continue to curb such violations and ensure compliance with the new regulations. The General Directorate of Traffic has urged all scooter users to operate their vehicles only in designated areas and strictly follow traffic rules to contribute to a safer road environment for all.
