The Ministry of Labour issued 582 warnings to businesses over workplace safety breaches as part of 1,091 inspections carried out in 2024.
The checks, conducted at worksites, accommodations, and other premises, were aimed at ensuring compliance with occupational safety laws.
The ministry said the effort was linked to a drop in complaints, with just 14 workplace safety grievances recorded last year.
Responsibility
During a workshop with safety officers and site supervisors from private sector firms, the ministry stressed the need for businesses to take responsibility for worker safety.
It said the warnings were issued to sites where hazards were found that could lead to injuries or accidents.
Construction firms saw the highest number of inspections, followed by industrial workplaces, worker housing, and commercial establishments.
Standards
The ministry said it would continue monitoring safety practices to ensure proper standards are maintained.
The workshop was part of an ongoing push to improve awareness and encourage businesses to follow safety rules, with the goal of reducing workplace risks across Bahrain.
