MPs support Al Mazari’a Avenue upgrade to intersections

A plan to widen Al Mazari’a Avenue from Jasra to Dumistan — removing roundabouts in favour of intersections and adding traffic signals — has cleared Parliament’s Public Utilities Committee and will go to a vote next Tuesday. The proposal calls for lane expansions, new road markings, and improved traffic controls aimed at easing congestion and making travel smoother.

Upgrade

At the same time, the Works Ministry confirmed that the upgrade of the Jasra junction, which links Janabiya Highway with Shaikh Isa bin Salman Highway, is in progress and due to be finished this year.

The ministry also outlined two other projects.

Work is being planned on Wali Al Ahad Highway and connecting roads to ensure they can handle future traffic loads, with designs now being drawn up.

Expansion

Meanwhile, Zaid Bin Omera Highway is set for expansion, with work on access points expected to improve traffic flow.

The ministry said these efforts were part of its broader plan to improve Bahrain’s road network, particularly on major routes, to ease congestion.

It noted that these projects tie into ongoing traffic studies and planning aimed at keeping roads moving in step with population growth and the government’s long-term development strategy.
