Consumer protection is not only a legal obligation but also a moral and societal responsibility, affirmed Abdulla bin Adel Fakhro, Minister of Industry and Commerce, in marking World Consumer Rights Day.
“This strengthens trust and safeguards rights within a fair and sustainable economic framework,” Fakhro said.
Observed annually on 15 March since 1983 under the United Nations, this year’s World Consumer Rights Day focuses on “Sustainable Lifestyles” as its theme.
The minister said that the Consumer Protection Directorate at the ministry will continue introducing initiatives and programmes to promote a culture of sustainable consumption. The directorate will also collaborate with local and international organisations to exchange expertise and best practices in the field.
He also underscored the importance of engaging youth and future generations in awareness and training initiatives.
