A carpenter who pushed his flatmate down a flight of stairs over an unpaid BD20 debt has failed to overturn his prison sentence and deportation.
The High Criminal Court upheld the three-year term and ordered his removal from the country.
The defendant, described as an Asian national, was found guilty of shoving the victim from the rooftop of their shared lodging, causing him to tumble down and suffer lasting injuries.
Medical report
A medical report confirmed a fractured right foot, which required surgery to fix with plates and screws.
Swelling, pain, and a slight limp remain, with doctors assessing his disability at 10 per cent.
The dispute began over a BD20 loan. The victim said he had lent the defendant the sum with the understanding it would be repaid within a week.
When the dead line passed with no payment, he confronted the defendant, who was smoking and playing cards on the rooftop with other residents.
