Three individuals have been convicted for human trafficking offenses.
Under the pretense of legitimate employment, the perpetrators lured a woman to Bahrain but subsequently confined her to hotel rooms, coercing her into prostitution.
They further exploited the victim by taking unauthorised photographs and using them as blackmail to ensure her compliance.
She managed to escape in Juffair and sought assistance from the police, leading to the swift apprehension of her captors.
The victim believed she was coming for a job in a women’s massage parlour.
Instead, her passport and phone were confiscated, she was beaten, and she was threatened with the release of compromising photographs if she refused to cooperate.
The first defendant received a five-year prison sentence, while the other two were each sentenced to three years behind bars.
They were ordered to pay BD2,000 each and cover the victim’s return travel expenses.
