Bahrain-Saudi trade hit SAR 10.5bln in Q4 2024

Trade between Bahrain and Saudi Arabia reached SAR 10.5 billion in the final quarter of 2024, new figures from Saudi Arabia’s General Authority for Statistics have shown.

Bahrain exported goods worth SAR 2.1 billion to its larger neighbour, while Saudi exports to Bahrain totalled SAR 8.4 billion. Across the Gulf as a whole, Saudi Arabia imported SAR 18.3 billion in goods from fellow GCC countries and exported SAR 39.5 billion.

The UAE topped the list, sending SAR 12.63 billion worth of goods to the Kingdom. Oman followed with SAR 2.63 billion, just ahead of Bahrain at SAR 2.14 billion.

Imports from Kuwait stood at SAR 603.4 million, while Qatar contributed SAR 337.2 million. China remained Saudi Arabia’s biggest customer, accounting for 14.7 per cent of its exports in the three months to the end of December. Japan followed with 9.8 per cent, then India at 9.6 per cent.

Top 10 destinations

South Korea, the UAE, the US, Poland, Singapore, Bahrain and Egypt completed the top 10 destinations for Saudi exports. Together, they accounted for 68.4 per cent.

On the import side, China was also the largest source, sending 25.6 per cent of all goods that arrived. The United States supplied 9 per cent, and the UAE 5.4 per cent.

India, Germany, Japan, Italy, Egypt, Switzerland and the United Kingdom were also among the ten largest sources of imports, together making up 66.1 per cent.
