Al Fateh Mosque Welcomes 200 New Trees in Major Green Initiative

The National Initiative for Agricultural Development (NIAD), in partnership with Ghosn Al Bahrain, Sanwan Nursery, and Abu Subaie Nursery, has successfully completed the planting of 200 acacia trees at Al Fateh Grand Mosque.
The initiative underscores the importance of community collaboration in advancing sustainable development and expanding Bahrain’s green spaces.
Shaikha Maram bint Isa Al Khalifa, Secretary-General of NIAD, emphasized the significance of Al Fateh Grand Mosque as one of the Kingdom’s most prominent religious and cultural landmarks. With thousands of worshippers and visitors frequenting the site, she noted that enhancing its green cover contributes to both environmental sustainability and the overall aesthetic appeal of the area.
Asim Abdullatif Abdullah, Undersecretary for Agriculture and Animal Wealth, reaffirmed the Ministry’s commitment to supporting projects aligned with Bahrain’s national afforestation plan. He highlighted the goal of doubling the number of trees across the Kingdom and strengthening ecological balance.
He also commended NIAD and private sector partners for their role in the initiative, praising their contributions to Bahrain’s national afforestation strategy and their efforts in fostering a greener and more sustainable environment.
