The Public Prosecution Office for Ministries and Public Entities has launched an investigation following the arrest of four Indian nationals caught using illegal fishing equipment in Bahraini waters.
According to a report from the Coast Guard Command, a security patrol spotted the boat and attempted to conduct an inspection to verify its licenses.
However, the suspects attempted to flee but were quickly pursued and apprehended along with the vessel. Upon inspection, authorities discovered they were in possession of prohibited bottom trawl nets (kufa).
Multiple offenses
Following the report, the Public Prosecution interrogated the suspects and charged them with multiple offenses, including possessing and using banned fishing equipment, obstructing security personnel from conducting an inspection, and failing to carry mandatory safety gear such as life jackets, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers.
They were charged with operating a vessel without a valid driver’s license.
