LeBron James hit a game-winning layup as time expired, securing a 120-119 victory for the Los Angeles Lakers over the Indiana Pacers on Wednesday night at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis. The win snapped the Lakers' three-game losing streak, pushing their record to 44-28.
James, who had a quiet start to the game and didn't make a field goal until the fourth quarter, finished with 13 points, 13 rebounds, and seven assists. His clutch tip-in came after a chaotic final sequence, which saw the Lakers trail by three points with just five minutes remaining. Los Angeles answered with an 11-2 run, but the Pacers reclaimed the lead with seven unanswered points, putting them up 119-118 with 42 seconds left.
With the game on the line, Indiana’s Bennedict Mathurin missed a crucial 3-pointer, and the Lakers’ Luka Doncic followed with a missed floater. However, James was right where he needed to be, tipping the ball in just before the buzzer sounded, sending the Lakers home with the win.
Luka Doncic led the Lakers with an impressive 34 points, seven rebounds, and seven assists. Austin Reaves added 24 points, while Rui Hachimura contributed 14. On the Pacers’ side, Mathurin came off the bench to score 23 points, while Tyrese Haliburton posted a double-double with 16 points and 18 assists. Myles Turner had a solid performance with 16 points and 12 rebounds, but Indiana’s five-game win streak was snapped in this heartbreaking loss.
Wizards 119, 76ers 114
The Washington Wizards also edged out the Philadelphia 76ers 119-114, snapping their own five-game losing streak. Alex Sarr led the way for the Wizards with 24 points, while Justin Champagnie contributed 18 points and 10 rebounds. Washington’s offense was firing on all cylinders, shooting 50.5 percent from the field, including a stellar 18-of-44 from beyond the arc. Jordan Poole chipped in with 18 points and seven assists in the road victory.
